The Team at Precision Engineer realised that drill holding on none VDI CNC lathes have many shortcomings so we evolved the Cooldrill toolholder design to correct the problems with normal drill & boring bar holders . We discovered that we have a unique design and are now manufacturing Cooldrill offering a very inexpensive route to reducing your costs and increasing profitability. Cooldrill uses either double angle or ER collets to adjust for drill or boring bar size . Coolant is then directed through the collet and pressurised. The whole assembly sits flush in the turret bore to give maximum clearance against the jaws giving :-
* Very fast set up and toolchange times. * Reduced expensive collisions when faceing and parting off. * Flood coolant completely covers the drill. * Range from 3mm to 16 mm using double ER collets in a 40mm dia Turret bore. * Reduced tool breakage and wear. * Faster Cycle Times. * Reduced Tooling Costs.
Cooldrill's sit flush in Z with all your other tools.................Cooldrill 40 (note the old drill socket sitting above the turret face) Cooldrill has been designed typically for a small machine shop that requires a reliable drilling boring system with much reduced tool inventory costs. It is also time efficient as it frees up machinists time from altering drills and sockets while the machine is at a standstill, allowing for faster set ups and pre-changeover organisation of tools. A leading Lathe Manufacture has confirmed that only 5% of new 2 axis machines are sold with VDI turrets . In reality most old machines would have normal turrets with the majority of external cutting tools never being removed from the turret Cooldrill can save the expense of a VDI turret .
